Shrove Tuesday

It is an ancient practice of the church to use up rich foods and fats on the day before Ash Wednesday (also called Shrove Tuesday). Ash Wednesday marks the start of the period of Lent, the preparation time for Easter, which traditionally has been a sombre time, focussed on the suffering of Christ for our sins and wrongs. It is a time of reflection, repentance and confession. The practice of fasting, especially abstaining from rich foods, is a physical reminder of the serious nature of this time.

At Concordia we have traditionally marked Shrove Tuesday with pancakes, provided for our students. At SSC the Faith and Service captains lead this, and the pancakes were provided for free.

Boarding

Boarding News

Hello to all our families near and far.

Our boarder orientation and team building camp was a huge success. Everyone experienced new activities like Canoeing, rock climbing, the flying fox, cooking, fishing, and swimming. There was never a dull moment. All of our students were extremely well-behaved. The food was great. A huge thanks to our spectacular staff who gave up their time to supervise our students. A special mention to Nurse Libby who also came along. Nurse Libby, your medical expertise was in demand at times, and you comforted many and reminded everyone about sunblock. Thank you!

Boarder Captains Kerri and Khan did a great job in mentoring the younger students and supporting the staff. The purpose of our camp was to learn something about each other, build relationships and simply be happy young teenagers. I hope you enjoy the photos in our gallery.

Welcome from the Leadership Team
