The Week Ahead - Term 3, Week 6

Monday 12 August - Friday 16 August

From the Head of College

From the Head of College

Dear Parents and Caregivers

This full edition of the Week Ahead finds us at the halfway point for Term 3 already. What a start it has been to Term 3 with so many successes, achievements and milestones to celebrate as a learning community. I have the privilege of visiting all 3 campuses which allows me to see, hear and feel the heartbeat of each place. The consistent message I see and hear across our college is that it鈥檚 all about our deep sense of community and very importantly, belonging. The following message, which greets all our students and visitors to our Warwick Street Campus, recently caught my eye and sums up perfectly who we are as a learning community:

In case no one told you today鈥

Hello

Good Morning

You Belong here

You鈥檙e Doing Great

We Believe in You.

CLC Book Week

This year's theme is 鈥Reading is Magic鈥&苍产蝉辫;

We look forward to seeing what creative costumes our students (and staff!) come up with for book week. It is always an exciting and fun time of the year.

Just remember that book week is about connecting students with books and inspiring enthusiasm and passion for reading. Costumes definitely don鈥檛 have to be expensive or complicated! They can be made out of things you find around the house, or from what is already in their wardrobe.

Happy reading!

ENSEMBLES EXTRAVAGANZA

All of our CLC Cocurricular music ensembles gathered on Monday evening to celebrate eisteddfod successes, share learned repertoire and acknowledge our Year 12 music students. There were performances from the Drumline, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Flute Ensemble, Big Band and new this year 鈥 our MEGAband which featured approx. 50 students. This evening is so special as it combines both Junior and Senior campus students in an evening of music possibilities. Each student was presented with a medallion at the end of the night as a thank you for their time and commitment to the Music Performance program. We are looking forward to many more performances before the year ends and thank all of our supporters!

From the Director of Pastoral Care and Wellbeing

How blessed are we as a college community to have such great opportunities for our students. Over the past five weeks, our students have been involved in an array of activities and excursions that allows each individual to thrive. Term 3 in particular is historically known as an eventful time of the year with many sporting events, cultural activities, camps and academic endeavours scheduled. Along the way students will encounter times of excitement as well as time of stress and challenges. But what has been most noticeable over the past five weeks is the commitment and persistence that our students have shown toward their learning and personal interests.

    Year 10-12 Music Excursion

On Wednesday 6th August, the Years 10-12 Music classes embarked upon a wonderful excursion to Brisbane as part of their curriculum. First stop was the Conservatorium (Griffiths) at Southbank where the students were treated to an engaging and comprehensive tour of the campus by 3rd Year Jazz Studies student, Chloe. The possibility that some of them may end up at this very campus pursuing their love of Music was not lost amongst the group and many questions were asked and great interest shown. Next, was lunch at Southbank on a beautiful 鈥楤risbane鈥 winter day AKA Toowoomba Springtime.
