Congratulations to all students who sat for 2022 Academic Scholarships in February of this year. We have been informed that results will be available to schools shortly, and we will be making scholarship offers prior to the end of Term 1, 2021. • Stay home if you are feeling unwell, and get tested if any COVID-19 symptoms are evident.
  • Wash hands with soap after using the toilet or after sneezing, and dispose of tissues correctly.
  • Exercise social distancing where possibly and abide by the health guidelines as managed by the College.
  • Sign in and out of campus Receptions if you are visiting the College.

From the Director

It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of Term 1! With only three school days next week, there are still a lot of activities happening in the classrooms as students finish off their work for the term.

This week our Year 5 students participated in a Colonial School with the students from Hume Street Campus, and experienced what school life was like in the late 1800s. While the Year 5 class enjoyed taking a step back in time on Tuesday, they were firmly back in the 21st Century yesterday as they completed their first NAPLAN online practice alongside the Year 3 class.

This test was an opportunity for students and staff to see what the online test would look like and how it would work. After completing the practice test, I am confident the students will be ready for the real deal in May.

Word on the Street

The Word on the Street is that someone is going to be very excited on Wednesday afternoon when we announce the winner of our giant 10kg block of Cadbury chocolate! This will be announced at our closing Chapel service. Entries will close on Tuesday afternoon. Best of luck, everyone!

Stephen Street Campus

From the Director of Campus

Stephen Street Campus is busily preparing for our Open Day tomorrow and we are looking forward to welcoming our visitors and existing families to share in the learning and experiences of our students.

It is not too late to register if you would like to pop in on Saturday for a wander around or to tag along with a tour if you were wanting a more in-depth look at our campus. You will also be able to grab some gourmet sustenance from our amazing team of P&F Volunteers who will be cooking up a storm on the BBQ in the quad with coffee and cake only a couple of steps away… just follow your nose. Many thanks to the students, parents and staff who are involved in making our Open Day the success that it will be.

This week our Years 9/10 and 11/12 students had the opportunity to attend a presentation by on consent and sexual health. I sat in both of these presentations and was very impressed with the way that the presenter from Kobi House delivered the age-appropriate information to our students. I encourage parents to talk to their children about this presentation and to use it as a springboard for healthy conversations around these very important topics.

Finally, a date claimer. Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews are being held on campus on Monday 19 April. We have an online booking process for our interviews with details and link to the booking system being published with our Term 1 Interim Reports. As parents, a reminder that you can see your child鈥檚 assessments and feeback via the Parent Lounge portal.

Boarding

Boarding News

With the end of term fast approaching, there has been a surge by all to get all assessments completed and some serious studying and revision. Our wonderful tutors have given their all in supporting our students by way of extra Guru study sessions and one on one tutoring. A huge thank you! Again we continue to stress to girls and boys alike to make full use of the Library and the morning and afternoon tutoring groups made available by the teachers.

Moving on to the Boarding program. Great work has been done in gutting two rooms (one in Temme and one in Giabal) by the maintenance staff. Refurbishing will commence this week with an expected completion date on 14 April. Both Boarding Captains will move into their new rooms at the beginning of Term 2.

Excitement is building with the dress fittings for the musical done on Friday and full day rehearsals on Saturday for the cast. Well done all for your tremendous commitment and endurance. Hopefully a quiet day on Sunday to recharge for the week ahead with your exams.

Welcome from the Leadership Team
