Congratulations, Concordia! In the first two days, 25% of the available Lecture Theatre seats have been purchased by members of our community. This is wonderful news and I thank all who have already contributed for their wonderful generosity. The ‘2021 Take-a-Seat Annual Giving Campaign’ will provide a first class learning facility for all Concordia students both now and into the future.

Concordia ŮŮ��Ƶ College Future Foundation will launch the Concordia ŮŮ��Ƶ College Scholarship Fund in the coming days. Gifts to this Fund will be tax-deductible, and the funds will be used exclusively to financially support young people (at all levels) to experience an excellent education at Concordia. Please watch this space for the official launch.

Visit of incoming Head of College
Throughout next week, our incoming Head of College, Mr Anton Prinsloo, will be with us as part of the handover process. He will be spending significant amounts of time at all three campuses and I look forward to introducing him to staff, students and parents. An introduction to Concordia Old Scholars will occur early in Term 3, 2021. On behalf of the whole community, I welcome Mr Prinsloo and his wife Sylvia to our exciting school and wish them all of God’s blessings as they step into their new roles in our vibrant community.

We have been truly humbled by the amazing response we have received for the Lecture Theatre Upgrade project that was launched to the community this week.

In under 48 hours, a quarter of the seats in the Lecture Theatre have already been sold to generous supporters including current families, Old Scholars and their families, past and present staff members and members of the College Council.

For a tax-deductible donation of $500, your family can purchase a chair for the Lecture Theatre Upgrade. All chairs purchased will have a name plaque affixed acknowledging the generosity of the donor and an Honour Board displayed in the Lecture Theatre will acknowledge your contribution.

QCIS Cross Country Results
This year's event was held at Scots PGC College, Warwick. Concordia's team had a wonderful carnival with some fantastic results, receiving the following placings:

Last Friday, held at their own respective campuses, was the annual 8-12 years Ball Games Carnival, which was suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19. The quest of the day was to become the 2021 House Champions and hold the Trophy aloft. 

The day started with the bellowing of war cries setting the scene. Each House 'ripped' in what was to be a fiercely contested battle across the various divisions, with the lead changing on numerous occasions. Some of these games went down to the wire, and judges were nearly looking for the 'bunker replay' to aid with awarding places. This was testament to the friendly rivalry on display throughout the carnival.

At the completion of the day and tallying of points across the two campuses, we saw the “underdogs” coming away with a fantastic victory on the day. Congratulations goes to the following Houses on their placings for 2021!

• 2nd Place – Altus
• 3rd Place - Kessler

The students enjoyed being treated to two talent shows this week. We have some amazing dancers, singers and gymnasts. Thank you to all the students who participated in this event.

Our Year 3 students did some awesome writing earlier this term and wrote persuasive letters to me. They covered a range of topics such as soccer goals, a petting zoo, handball courts and extra time for playtime. Ari Charchar was so convincing with his arguments that the whole campus was awarded extra playtime today. Mrs Coleborn, I think we need to add Ari to our Marketing Department!

This year's tug of war was held on Friday, 4 June at Hume Street Campus. It was an amazing day. It was competitive and exciting. Tug of war is an event where all ages from all houses compete against each other. Kessler was the overall winner.

Every year the year sixes get to compete against the Police. When the year sixes went up against the Police, we won but it might have had something to do with some of the teachers helping us.

Overall it was an amazing day full of fun and memorable moments for not only the year sixes, but all grades.

Student Council will be hosting a Student Talent Show in Week 8. This is a lunch time activity where students may volunteer to showcase talent that they have or are developing. It is just a bit of fun and will be held in the Hall. If you have any questions, please ask your classroom teacher.

At HSC, Tuckshop is held on a Thursday. All orders are to be completed online at by 3pm each Wednesday. Please notify Reception by 9am on Thursday if your child is absent and we will cancel their order. Tuckshop will finish in Week 8.

The end of term is fast approaching, and as I wander around the classrooms, I see the students and teachers working hard to finalise their end of term assessments and units. Parent Teacher Interviews are an excellent time for you to sit down with your child’s teacher and discuss their progress. Our interviews will be held in the mornings and afternoons of Week 9, and on the Friday Pupil Free Day. Parent Teacher Interview times are now available on Parent Lounge. 

Today, we have said a sad farewell to Mrs Hannah Fowkes, our Warwick Street Kindergarten Service Leader. Hannah has been a wonderful support of both our kindergarten as well as Warwick Street Campus, and she will be greatly missed by staff and students. We wish her all the best for the future as she takes up a new role at another Early Learning service. 

Mark your calendars, the next Parent Connect evening will be held on Thursday 10 June in the Wine Room at the Southern Hotel. Please  join us anytime from 5.30pm with drinks and/or meals available for purchase. Come for half an hour or stay for three, it is totally up to you! This month will be an informal catch up and a great opportunity to hear about the Christmas in July function planned for the start of Term 3.

The first day of winter saw our team of 48 cross country athletes head down to Warwick for the QCIS Cross Country Carnival. The efforts of the team allowed us to come away with third place overall and second place on percentage. Congratulations to the team and many thanks to Mrs Jana Anderson and Mr Darryl Fry for their coordination and supervision on the day.

On Thursday, our Years 11 and 12 students attended the road safety course, RYDA. The goal of the RYDA program is to equip students with the “tools and understanding required for them to see themselves as active, responsible road citizens." In speaking with some of the Year 12 students today, their take-home messages were around the $1000 fine and four demerit points for using a mobile phone while driving, the very real consequences that speeding can result in, clarity around current road rules and increased ability to observe hazards while driving. Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions, some of the practical aspects of the course weren’t able to be undertaken.

Stephen Street Campus P&F/Parent Connect will be meeting this coming Monday 7 June at 6.30pm in the Function Centre. All welcome to attend.

This week, Brisbane Lions AFLW star, Dakota Davidson, presented the Toowoomba Tigers Australian Football Club women's side their 2021 Indigenous Guernseys. Team member, the very talented Chrissy Watson (Year 11), featured in the presentation. The team will wear the special guernseys in their Sir Doug Nicholls Round match against South Toowoomba AFC this Saturday.

Concordia students Kaitlyn Zelinski and Jasmine Hollonds are also team members along with past students Lauren Jericho (Captain), Carlee Mesken (Vice Captain) and Courtney Lange (Vice Captain). A very special thank you to for allowing the use of his wonderful AFL photos.

This week our Year 9 boarders attended the Information Evening where Ms Bowen walked us through QCAA syllabuses, school-based assessments and External assessments. Quite a lot to get your head around although the students have grasped the information and will now be better equipped to make their subject choices for 2022. Thank you, Ms Bowen, for an informative evening.

Memories for a life time – school photos! Boarders presented themselves proudly and with lovely smiles and a good sense of humour at our campus photo day last week. We still couldn’t get the timing right - we had a taxi waiting in the car park to transport a student to USQ in Gatton, Mr Ross running back to the dorm to let a student in to get a blazer and put her shoes on. Students worried about an exam and then a reshuffle of the standing order to fit a couple more students in. Simply nothing different than what any parent must juggle every morning.
