Following the success of last year鈥檚 event, Concordia will stage a bigger, better Oktoberfest celebration on the historic grounds of the Senior College on Saturday, October 19 from 4pm to 8pm. 鈥淓ntertainment will include a band, student performances, activities for the kids and teens along with a multi-draw raffle with a percentage of the proceeds going towards the Toowoomba Hospice,鈥 she said.
鈥淒elicious German cuisine will be available at various food stalls. From bratwursts to pretzels, there will be an
assortment of dishes to satisfy every festival attendee, and the kids will even get to decorate their own biscuit.
鈥淭o wash down the food on offer there will be an array of German beers and after a few of those some may even revive the 鈥榗hicken dance鈥 that took over Expo 鈥88 in Brisbane.鈥
鈥淭his year there will also be fireworks to end the night, along with a strong person competition and the Pechey Distillery Co signature Oktoberfest Gin which will be served as a cocktail.
鈥淥ktoberfest not only honours the college鈥檚 rich German heritage, it also fosters a strong sense of community among students, staff, families and the wider community,鈥 Mrs Prince said.
鈥淭here will also be market stalls bursting with exceptional, handcrafted treasures. From hand-painted kids鈥

something unique for everyone to discover.
鈥淲e are thrilled to provide a platform for these talented artisans to showcase their work,鈥 she added.
Visitors can also indulge their sweet tooth with offerings like NYC-style stuffed and loaded cookies, decadent brownies, fudge, and classic rocky road.
There is handmade children鈥檚 clothing and home wares to explore that highlight the creativity of the Concordia community.
鈥淏y coming together to enjoy traditional food, music, and activities, we celebrate our shared history and values, and we invite everyone in the community to come along and have a good time,鈥 she said.
鈥淲e hope to grow this event into the future. This year鈥檚 event has been supported by many local businesses and we are truly thankful for this support鈥.
